Air Conditioning in Buderim
Up on the plateau Buderim runs a touch cooler than the coast, but the humidity doesn't care about altitude — and high-ceilinged older homes are their own cooling problem.

Local work
High ceilings, big rooms, established gardens
A lot of Buderim's older homes have high ceilings, timber floors and generous rooms. There's more air in them than the floor area suggests, so sizing off room dimensions alone will leave you short on the worst days.
Where the outdoor unit goes takes more thought here too. Blocks slope, gardens are well established, and nobody wants the condenser sitting in the middle of a view. Wall brackets and screened positions down the side of the house usually solve it.
Local know-how
Worth knowing in Buderim
Volume, not just floor area
High ceilings mean more air to cool. We size for the actual volume of the room.
Established gardens
Outdoor units need airflow and clearance. We'll find a spot that works without cutting back half the garden.
Shade helps, leaf litter doesn't
Tree cover keeps an outdoor unit cooler, but leaves in the coil undo the favour. Keep it clear.

FAQ
Air Conditioning in Buderim: common questions
Does a high-ceilinged room need a bigger air conditioner?
Usually, yes. Capacity depends on the volume of air in the room rather than just the floor area, so a room with three-metre ceilings needs noticeably more than the same footprint with standard ceilings.
Is it cooler up at Buderim than down on the coast?
A little — the plateau sits around 90 metres above sea level. The humidity is much the same though, and that's what most people are actually running the air conditioner for.
