Queensland's smoke alarm rules, sorted
Queensland's rules call for photoelectric smoke alarms that are interconnected, so when one sounds, they all do. They need to be in every bedroom, in hallways that connect bedrooms to the rest of the home, and on every storey.
The rules already apply when a home is sold or leased, and they apply to every Queensland home from 1 January 2027. If your alarms are more than ten years old, they're due for replacement regardless.
Alarms need to be hardwired or run on a sealed ten-year battery. We'll check what you've got, tell you what's needed and leave you with a system that's tested and working.
